Water waste patrol update

Post Date:05/08/2015 12:49 PM

Vallecitos' water waste patrols began on Monday, May 11, 2015.  In less than two weeks of driving through Vallecitos' service area looking for water waste, Vallecitos staff found 250 violations. Most of these violations were for sprinkler runoff which occurs when the water from the sprinklers over-sprays or drains onto hard surfaces, such as the sidewalk or gutter.

To ensure that our customers' yards will stay off our radar, we recommend:

  • Checking the irrigation timer to make sure the sprinklers are not set for more than the allowable watering days and times per week  and make adjustments if necessary.
  • Test run the sprinklers and check for problems such as broken sprinkler heads, valves or pipes, misaligned sprinkler heads, over-spray or runoff, and make the necessary corrections.

For customers that need help understanding their irrigation timer, locating problems or increasing the efficiency of their irrigation system, help is available. Vallecitos customers can sign up online for FREE landscape irrigation audit.
