Drought Ordinance Update

On April 1, 2015, Governor Brown issued an Executive Order directing that the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) develop and impose restrictions on urban water users to achieve a statewide 25% reduction in potable urban water use.

On May 5, 2015, the SWRCB adopted new regulations, to ensure compliance with the Order; and has mandated a 24% reduction in potable water use for the Vallecitos Water District from 2013 demands, which includes Residential, Commercial, Industrial and Institutional potable water demands.

On May 20, 2015, the Vallecitos Board of Directors adopted Ordinance 195 that limits all outdoor irrigation, excluding certified agricultural or commercial growers, during the months of June through October to two days per week / 8 minutes per station.

Detailed information can be found in the ordinance or press release. For additional questions, customers are encouraged to email or call the Conservation Department at (760) 744-0460.
