Jim Poltl has been a San Marcos resident 30 years. His first time as a member of any water district board or committee will be an extension of Poltl’s community involvement, which includes a board director with the San Marcos Unified School District for 10 years, the San Marcos American Youth Soccer Organization for five years, and the San Marcos Parks and Recreation Commission for two years. He also owned his own heating and air conditioning business in San Marcos for 17 years. Jim Poltl currently is the Director of Maintenance/Operations/Transportation for San Marcos Unified School District.

He is married to Andrea, his wife of 33 years. They have five children.
