School Education Programs
Our education staff is currently serving on the CA Department of Water Resources Education Committee and the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce Education Committee. All presentations are designed to meet California Content Standards as adopted by grade level by the California State Board of Education, October, 1998. Students may learn about water quality, water conservation, water science, water distribution, water history, local climate, water current events, gardening, native habitat and plants, the water cycle, or more! One highlighted education program is the Jack's Pond Park 2nd Grade Field Trip, presented in conjunction with the City of San Marcos. VWD funds the transportation for all service area public schools at the 2nd grade level! Thousands of area students participated last year. Additonally, VWD funds visits from the "Splash Lab" to area schools each year. The "Splash Lab" is a mobile lab that visits campuses to teach students about ecology, microbiology, and watersheds.
