EMERGENCY AQUEDUCT SHUTDOWN

Vallecitos is asking customers to curtail outdoor irrigation to the MAXIMUM EXTENT POSSIBLE from September 9 - 18, 2019, to minimize the impact's to our water supply as a result of a shutdown of a San Diego County Water Authority drinking water pipeline that serves Vallecitos.  As of September 13, 2019, the District's reservoir levels are good, but we are still requesting voluntary outdoor conservation until the end of the shutdown on September 18, 2019.  Click here for more details.

iStock_000013837705SmallSewer overflows and backups can cause health hazards, damage the interiors of homes and businesses, and threaten the environment. A common cause of overflows is sewer pipes blocked by grease. Grease gets into the sewers from household drains, as well as from poorly maintained grease traps in restaurants and other businesses.

Grease should never go down the sewer or storm drain. To remedy this problem, EDCO has established a Fats, Oils, and Grease (FOG) collection program where residential customers can drop off their used cooking grease at their drop off facility in San Marcos free of charge. The collected grease is then shipped to a refining facility where it is processed into biodiesel. For more information on EDCO’s services, click here.

For more information, please review the District's "Cease the Grease" brochure or browse through the Fats, Oils and Grease Program section of our website.
